The Zero Battery Catalog

Every Z-Force battery pack Zero Motorcycles has shipped — capacity, form factor, chemistry and which models mount it. Filter, search, and cross-reference the full compatibility matrix.

Last updated: July 3, 2026

The “ZF” number is the max

ZF6.5 = 6.5 kWh maximum. Zero’s published “nominal” is the usable figure, ≈ 0.88× the max (ZF6.5 → 5.7 kWh usable).

Modular vs monolith

FX/FXS/FXE run 1–2 hot-swappable bricks. Street S/SR/DS/DSR and the Gen3 SR/F, SR/S, DSR/X use one bonded pack.

Same cells everywhere

Farasis NMC pouch cells, 28 in series (28S, ~102 V nominal, ~117 V full). The Power Tank is purely additive and never renames the pack.

A decade of packs

When each main pack was on sale and how capacity climbed from 2.8 kWh to 17.3 kWh (modular / monolith).

Frequently asked

What does the ZF number mean on a Zero battery?

The ZF number is the pack's MAXIMUM capacity in kWh (e.g. ZF6.5 = 6.5 kWh max). Zero's separately published "nominal" figure is the usable capacity, roughly 0.88× the max — so a ZF6.5 pack is about 5.7 kWh usable.

What battery chemistry do Zero Motorcycles use?

All Zero packs use Farasis NMC (nickel-manganese-cobalt) pouch cells in a 28-series (28S) configuration, giving about 102 V nominal and roughly 117 V fully charged.

Which Zero models have modular vs monolithic batteries?

The FX family (FX, FXS, FXE) uses removable modular bricks — one or two per bike. The street bikes (S, DS, SR, DSR) and the Gen3 SR/F, SR/S and DSR/X use a single bonded monolith pack that is not user-swappable.

What is the largest Zero battery pack?

The ZF17.3 (17.3 kWh maximum, ~15.2 kWh usable) is the largest, native to the DSR/X and unlockable on the SR/F and SR/S. The smallest is the ZF2.8 modular brick used on the early FX/XU/MX.

What is a Zero Power Tank?

The Power Tank is an additive accessory pack for monolith street bikes (+2.8 kWh before 2018, +3.6 kWh after). It adds capacity on top of the main pack and never renames it.
